Note on filing nomination

Nominations could be filed one of 3 ways.

  1. Nominations could be handed over in person to a NEC member who will be present at the temple at specific times mentioned in NEC bulletin 1.
  2. The nomination form could be mailed to the address in the NEC bulletin 1. However, the NEC requests that a scanned copy of the nomination form be also emailed to the NEC member.
  3. Scanned nominations could be emailed to the NEC member.

Please note that nominations can no longer be dropped in the Hundi as was the practice in past years. The nomination form has to be filled in completely to avoid any confusion.

Message #2 from the Nomination & Election Committee (NEC)

Dear Devotees: 

Happy Diwali to all of you.

We are pleased to announce the following vacancies.

BOT (Board of Trustees): Five  for a term of Three Years each

BOD (Board of Directors of HCC): Two for a term of three years each

BOG (Board of Governors): Two for a term of three years each

Elections will be held to fill the vacancies based on the number of nominations received. We are looking for devotees who are interested in filling these vacancies and contributing to the temple and HCC management. The rules for the elections as well the election nomination form and absentee ballot request form are attached for your convenience. Please feel free to share this information with other devotees and temple members. It is in the interest of the members to participate in the election process since BOTs and BOGs play a vital role in governing the affairs of the temple and BODs in the governing of HCC.   You can email the nomination form to Kirthivasan Nagarajan at nkirthivasan@gmail.com before the deadline of October 17, 2017. In the event of an election it is important that you bring photo ID to enable you to cast your vote. In the absence of a photo ID, the NEC may ask two voters with photo IDs to certify your identity.   Following are some important dates:

Election related deadlines

    • Date certified member list is available by : October 14, 2017 (a preliminary list will be posted on the temple website by the end of September)1
    • Date by which nomination should be received by NEC : October 17, 2017
    • Date by which request for an absentee ballot should be received by NEC October 24, 20172 
    • Date by which candidates can withdraw their nomination : October 31, 2017
    • Date by which absentee ballot should be received by NEC : November 14, 2017 
    • Election Date: November 19, 2017

Message #1 from the Nomination & Election Committee (NEC):

This is an early alert. Election Documents will be available soon on the temple web-site at www.albanyhindutemple.org. Please feel free to share this information with other devotees and temple members. It is in the interest of the members to participate in the election process since BOTs and BOGs play a vital role in governing the affairs of the temple and BODs in the governing of HCC. Through this election, temple members will elect BOTs, BOGs and BODs.

You can mail your nomination form by US Postal Service to Mr. Kirthivasan Nagarajan, 10 Nottingham Way, Cohoes, NY 12047. Alternately, you can email the scanned nomination form with signatures to Kirthivasan Nagarajan at nkirthivasan@gmail.com before the deadline as well. You can also submit your nomination form in the main temple in person to a NEC member on the following dates mentioned below. Please note that in light of past experiences we request you not to drop the nomination form in the hundi. It is important that you bring photo ID to enable you to cast your vote. In the absence of a photo ID, the NEC may ask two voters with photo IDs to certify your identity.

Following are some important post-mark dates:

    • Due date for candidates to mail nomination: October 10, 20171
